• Morgan's Home Plate - INFO

Well, now's my chance to get on my soapbox and Blab. Thanks for listening.

My Interest in baseball started like so many others have. My father took me to a ballgame. We went to the old Exhibition Stadium and saw the Toronto Blue Jays play. The Jays now play in the SkyDome, but in their infancy they grew up at the Ex. The best way to get there was to take a street car or the "red rocket" as they are called. If you are lucky you can still catch an old one. Tickets were cheap then, you could pick some up from the local Dominion Grocery store for under $3 each. If the Canadian National Exhibition was running you could arrive early and take that in or go after the game.

Now the Jays play at the SkyDome, it definitely propelled the team into the big leagues, but its important to remember where it all started. The SkyDome is very impressive but it lacks character. I wish a Camden Yards scenario could have been implemented. I know I will remember the old Exhibition Stadium probably longer then the SkyDome. However, its hard to forget where the Jays won their first World Series. And its hard to forget that the only All-Star game in Canada has been played there.

When I'm older I hope to get to as many baseball parks as I can. I have been to a few. I've been to the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome in Minneapolis and Yankee Stadium in New York. Yankee Stadium was great. Its like an oasis among dingy apartment buildings, elevated trains, and highways.

On my links page you will find links to some of the things I have mentioned, as well as other treasures. If its a dingy day where you are, stick around and surf. If its nice and you have the time, take your kid or some friends and play some catch or whack a ball.
